My process is to establish color spectrum-hues and values and block in the composition as a color field. In a vertical format, I limit to 2-3 horizontal formats and have been influenced by Rothko. Next I apply an overlay of additional color and refine. If chroma is too intense and i like the colors I'll glaze over with white and use a brush and
pottery tools to cut in and add texture.-then apply a gestural drawing accent and a horizon highlight. This same technique applies to both entries.
