This family orchard was purchased in 1926 by Mac Lott's father. I was asked to paint the view from Mac's backyard as a wedding gift for his son, who no longer lives in Pennsylvania but deeply loves where he grew up. This painting is the culmination of numerous Plein air studies on location. As an artist, my time studying the land and discussing it with Mac was also a kind of therapy for him as he talked about all the plants and his various family members. It was an honor to be part of this gift.
