I painted this piece from a trip to the Little Blackfoot River near Avon as the sun was beginning to set. I took a series of photos and made sketches and was surprised that in the shadows frozen was a deer looking at me. I loved the patterns that the rocks made in the water and the glowing colors on the foliage as the evening approached.
