We Will Always Have The Moon

We Will Always Have The Moon, Established Pastel Artist
We Will Always Have The Moon
This piece is loosely based on the Chinese legend of the Moon Goddess who flew to the moon, except that the flying lady here is wearing a Panamanian costume. A full moon is often a symbol of a family reunion in Chinese culture. This alludes to what the chinese poet, Su Shi, has quoted in his Water Melody poem, "Though thousand miles apart, we can always share the beauty of the moon". Here, the child is of a mixed Chinese and Panamanian heritage. She is wondering about her families afar..
