In my painting, I intentionally selected a complex, decorative background to juxtapose against the simpler, big shapes of the figure. I selected a dominant neutral palette and contrasted it with the primary colors of the daffodils, butterflies, and the wreath. This contrast emphasizes the figure, which is the main subject of interest. This piece is about a girl lost in her world of imaginative fantasy.
