Dogwalk In The Park

Using a variety of soft pastels, I worked to capture a pleasing representation of the snow, a snowy and icy terrain, and a lone dogwalker. I wanted to use purples and cool colors along with the warm reds and oranges, to capture the variety of light and color. The setting sun shines down and highlights the variety of surfaces. The man and his dog give a human presence to the scene. This was done on Rembrandt Sanguine paper, whose orange red inspires and pleases me, using mostly Richeson soft pastels.
