I painted this scene plein air in Algarve region, Portugal. I climbed up the cliff overlooking the beach and painted the view ahead. The distant cliffs were soaked in deep atmosphere while the intense sun made the water ever more transparent and vivid in colour and beach sand reflecting and bouncing the light.
