The architecture of the glorious city of Venice can be absolutely overwhelming at times. Intense archways, a sense of sinking amidst steeples, wavy pavement and the ornate play of sunlight across decaying marble loomed over me with their formidable beauty. An abandoned impasto abstract gave birth to the textures and tone of the soft pastels that emerged into this corner of the city.
