Soft pastel on Uart sanded paper. This image was inspired by a long and beautiful hike in Yellowstone National Park en route to MT Holmes, a prominent peak in the Southern terminus of the Gallatin range. As the trail gains elevation the views become more and more regal and one is accompanied by groves of white bark pines, one of my all time favorite trees. In the midst of Sky Pilot flowers, sulphur buckwheat and stonecrop flowers blooming. This perspective is looking west towards Three Rivers Peak, which also marks the source of the Gallatin River. A golden eagle flew within 20 feet of us just several minutes prior to reaching this point. I tried to convey some of the vastness one feels as you approach the ridge line. Needless to say it feels very much like a sacred place.
