This painting was inspired by a stairway in the sanctuary of the Rock of Cashel, in Ireland. The stairway is only visible through a small window, and the lighting was so extraordinary - it evoked both a sense of curiosity and peace. After completing an underdrawing, this was painted primarily in Panpastel, with details added using a variety of pastel pencils, primarily Conte.
