This piece was done from a sketch I made during a visit to Brookville, IN. The morning was cold so I slipped into a coffee shop and was immediately drawn to the view of the bright morning sun highlighting some old and derelict buildings. I really enjoyed the strong and varicolored angles of the rooftops and building fronts. They reminded me of a patchwork quilt and like a quilt, my challenge was to create an harmonious whole using those disparate pieces. The pastel was done on La Carte pastel card paper using soft pastels.
