This is from a reference photo I took when I visited Lake Pukaki, NZ. Even though it was a partially sunny day, the there was enough sunlight and the turquoise color was brightly lit! I couldn't stop thinking how beautiful the lake was after returning from my trip and I tried to capture the same in this painting.
This is a big piece 24 in X 36 in. I used a mix of Unison (mostly) and some Schmincke pastels (especially for the highlights) UART 400 sanded paper. It has a water-based wet underpainting.
