Inspired by a photograph in an old book called "The Smile Book". I went through a lengthy process to chase down the original photographer and get his permission to use the photo as an inspiration for my painting. He was thrilled that someone was crediting his work and agreed to let me use the photo as long as I sent him a photo of the finished painting, which I did, and which he really liked.
