Watching otters is a wonderful thing to do. Their little faces and gestures are so expressive. The texture of their fur is both soft and slick. This painting is of an Asian Short Clawed Otter painted using soft pastels on Lux Archival pastel paper. Some of the detail was coaxed out using general white charcoal pencil with a very sharp point at the end of painting. I used opposite colors to create added dimension and visual impact while keeping the slick textures in focus. Keeping this one fun.
